Instructions if You've
been injured in an accident
Recommendations if you’ve been
involved in an car accident, since car accidents are
by far the most common of personal injury cases,
we’ve outlined the steps to take if you’re involved
in a car accident.
What to do if you’re involved in an accident?
1) If you’re preventing traffic
make sure you pull over, if it’s safe to do so
2) Make sure no one has been
injured in the accident, if there is an injury, call
911 for help
3) Call the police to report the
accident, no matter how minor the accident, this
will get the claim handled quicker
4) Exchange insurance information
as well is driver’s license information with the
other driver. Make sure the other driver’s insurance
is current
5) Do not discuss who was at fault,
leave that for the insurance adjustors to decide
6) Immediately write down the
details of the accident, because overtime small
details that are relevant can be forgotten during
the process
7) If you have a camera phone, or a
camera with you, take pictures of the accident this
will help the adjustor determine who was at fault
8) Ask to see if there were any
witnesses at the scene of the accident who can
backup your claims
9) Obtain a copy of the police
report, write down the officers badge number and
name

Do I need medical advice if I’m
only slightly in pain?

accident the first thing to do is to speak to seek
medical attention, sometimes the pain doesn’t occur
for a few days, it’s best that your doctor have a
record of the accident ask your doctor for a report
and give this report to your personal injury lawyer.
What to do if the insurance company contacts
you:
Do not speak to the insurance
company until you have spoken to your personal
injury lawyer, your personal injury lawyer can also
represent you to the insurance company.
If your insurance company calls
you, tell them you’re currently represented by a
personal injury lawyer and have them contact the
lawyer personally.
Keep a detailed records of your conditions after
the accident:

Expenses as a result of the

Any mental and physical pain

Write down how this injury has
limited from performing your daily activities
Remember to make your entries on a
regular basis this will help paint a better picture
of how the effects the accidents have limited your
daily activities.
How much will I receive in the
settlement?
Each case is going to be different,
however if you and your lawyer can’t get a fair
settlement after negotiations your personal injury
lawyer will chose to go to trial, this can take time
to prepare your case. This will not cost you extra
in most cases, even though a trial is more
complicated process.
